Our client is a market leader among global exchange operators in their ability to drive the global marketplace forward through product innovation and trading solutions. They are looking for a Network Engineer with expertise in (TCP/IP protocols, L2/L3 multicast networks, automation, BGP, CCIE etc.) to join their growing team in Amsterdam. This will initially be a 6 months contract with view to go longer or Permanent.

Job responsibilities

Maintaining, monitoring and supporting the company’s LAN, WAN and telephony network

Maintaining, monitoring and supporting network infrastructure security

Managing data communication to company’s locations, clients, Trading Venues and other connected parties

Network operations, project design and implementation

Work with other engineers and developers on delivering complicated projects

Subject matter expert for Netherlands based datacentre and office networks

Escalation point for NOC team on complicated issues

Be a part of setting a high standard for and continually evolve the company’s Europe network.

Drive automation to keep up with ever increasing demands on the network.

Working together with colleagues within the IT team and Network Engineering to offer problem-free and seamless connectivity for all parties connected to the production, DR and QA environments

Interfacing with external suppliers in case of incidents, problems or changes

Providing the business with information on uptimes, incidents and planned changes

Requirements

  • Be well experienced in the English language, both verbally and in writing

  • CCIE or equivalent level of knowledge of networking with specific emphasis on routing and switching

  • Complex network design and implementation focusing on predictability, resilience and security

  • Strong understanding of the TCP/IP protocols and network troubleshooting

  • In-depth knowledge of BGP

  • L2 and L3 multicast networks, PIM, IGMP, design, operations and troubleshooting

  • WAN Routing and traffic engineering

  • Network automation using available tools and own code

  • Strong familiarity with major network vendors

  • Strong familiarity with operating systems, Linux and Windows

  • Analytical problem solver, plans and priorities to work efficiently

  • Self-starter, able to take on big projects, plan and manage time, delivery and expectations.

  • Able to work out of hours to carry out changes

  • MPLS / VRF-Lite usage

  • Understands good security practices

  • Experience of working in datacentres and following best practices

  • Able to communicate clearly, both written and verbally

  • Able to use ticketing systems consistently and follow defined standards

  • Team player, builds positive relationships at all levels internally, globally and with customers

  • Knows what good looks like, has a culture of excellence and improvement

Knowledge and education

  • Bachelor degree (completed HBO education),

  • Solid Cisco networking background and experience

  • Network architectural skills
