Our client is a true market leader specialising in providing software solutions to leading travel agencies and looking for a VB.NET / HTML Front End Programmer to join the UI/UX development team based in Berkshire.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Joining the Development Team as a confident Developer, you will be accountable for working closely with internal teams to deliver technical solutions according to development plans and quality standards.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for skilfully producing software to the quality management system (QMS) consistent with customer satisfaction, analyse the root cause of field issues and internally generated bugs, as well as inhouse applications development.

  • With rapid adaptation & understanding of existing applications and technical environment, gain in-depth technical knowledge of the company’s systems

  • Work with internal and sub-contractor teams to ensure clear communication of technical issues

  • Investigate and manage technical issues accurately

  • Participate in software development lifecycle activities to deliver and validate new features and fixes according to required timescales and risks

  • Proactively investigate, implement solutions and bug fixes in cooperation with development management and other internal teams

  • Take ownership and responsibility of components and processes within the team to make tactical and strategic changes

  • Proactively manage development risks and issues in cooperation with the management team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • As a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience in technical roles within software development organisations

  • High standard of programming in .net development technologies, using VB.NET

  • Fluency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, with a willingness to pick up and learn new languages and technologies as needed

  • Experience of Bootstrap, Foundation and/or other responsive frameworks

  • A solid understanding of browser capabilities

  • A full appreciation of configuration management & issue tracking management issues and systems.

  • UI Design, MVC patterns and mvc.net, IIS management knowledge

Desirable Skills:

It would be great if you would have some of the following:

  • An aptitude for and experience in UX / UI Design and an eye for detail

  • Experience with AngularJS and Angular 10+ (using Typescript)

  • Programming experience in .NET code & configuration optimisation, performance tuning, security and scalability

  • Continuous integration (TeamCity) & source control management (SVN)

  • Use of distributed memory stores (REDIS)

  • Use of terminal scripting languages such as batch or Powershell (Powershell and Powershell Core)

  • Mobile/Tablet development

  • Web services development

  • Programming in Oracle SQL & PL/SQL, or Microsoft SQL Server

  • Experience within travel reservations & tour operating systems to identify and provide appropriate

  • technical solutions

  • Working knowledge of Finance and Payment systems

  • An appreciation for or experience in software or systems testing
