Rare opportunity for a CTO to join a leading Travel-Tech company, providing enterprise technology solutions to medium-large operators in the Travel industry.

We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join their Senior Management team. The CTO will drive the company’s technology strategy, taking responsibility for the quality, technical direction, and efficiency of software development.

Role:

This role combines a hands-on style of leadership with the ability to manage a team of senior technicians to develop and implement strategic changes to their products. We are targeting candidates who have deep understanding of implementing enterprise-scale web applications based on the Windows operating system, using Microsoft .Net technology and Angular.

Key Activities:

  • Provide technical leadership across a large multi-site software business with a global customer base

  • Responsibility for directing and managing the technology infrastructure (including MS Azure), application development, testing and operational teams which operate across the company.

  • Manage offshore development team, applying a software development lifecycle for multiple concurrent international projects

  • Manage technical architect and technical analyst resources both onshore and offshore

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • 15-20 years’ experience of designing, developing & implementing complex applications

  • Hands-on experience of developing for the Windows operating system using .Net, .Net Core, C# and Microsoft SQL Server

  • Deep experience of implementing best practices related to application security, accessibility, scalability, resilience and performance

  • Full understanding of CSS, HTMLS, and one or more Javascript frameworks (Angular is preferred)

  • Experience in leading software development activities with a proven track record of designing, delivering and supporting successful software products

  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle, with experience of delivering regular product releases

  • Experience of managing offshore development teams and an understanding of how to enhance the effectiveness of offshore teams.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Good presentation skills and the ability to communicate a technical architecture and vision to Customers, partners and internally within the company

  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Flexibility and energy, who will thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

 

The successful candidate will have come through a development background and is likely to be IT degree qualified as a minimum. The ideal candidate’s current role may be CTO or a VP Engineering, looking for a step up. Any experience within the travel and leisure industry would be a distinct advantage.

The role is based in the UK where the company operates a hybrid working policy, typically 1-2 days per week in the London office and the remainder WFH. The role will require regular visits to the Company’s offshore development center, (2-3 times per year) and occasional visits to client sites.
